Hey friends. I’m Ray Gao. Since 2017, I’ve been immersing myself in data analysis, digital twin, and AI. Along the way, I’ve completed over 10 data/machine learning projects and penned more than 40 research papers.

Quick Facts About Me

  1. 🏗️ I studied Architectural & Building Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) for four years, graduating with a Ph.D. in 2019. Since then, I’ve been working at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) as a tenure-track assistant professor.
  2. 👨‍💻 Concurrently with my Ph.D. research, I also pursued a Master’s in Computer Science with a focus on Machine Learning at Georgia Tech. I graduated with an M.Sc. in Computer Science in 2019.
  3. 🏫 At Virginia Tech, I teach CEM 4634 Data Analysis and Visualization, CNST 5634 Advanced Data Analysis and Visualization, as well as several Structural Engineering courses.
  4. 🤖 My primary research interests are in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Digital Twin, and Ambient Intelligence.
